GENERAL INFORMATION

 

Institute of Power Engineering was established as an R&D centre in 1953th  the decree of Prime Minister Office of November 2, 1953.

The main activities of Institute are:

  • plans and programms of the development of energy sector and electrical system,
  • development of apparatus, machines and equipments for electrical stations and networks,
  • operation and modernizations of electrical stations and equipments,
  • new technologies in energy sector, including electrical systems,
  • protection of environment against harmful effects of power stations and electrical networks.

The organizational structure of the Institute of Power Engineering comprises:

 


 

 

Central Unit consists of: Electrical Engineering Division, Thermal Engineering Division and Mechanical Engineering Division with Departments, Sections, Laboratories and Groups.

Electrical Engineering Division comprises:

  • Electric Power Engineering Automation Laboratory (EAE),
  • Automation and Protection Laboratory (EAZ),
  • Network Researches and Analyses Section (EBA),
  • Insulation Section (EI),
  • Electric Machines and Distribution Networks Laboratory (EMS),
  • Environmental Impact and Overvoltage Protection Section (EOS),
  • Switching Equipment Laboratory (EUR),
  • High Voltage Section (EWN),
  • High-Current Laboratory (EWP),
 

Mechanical Engineering Division comprises:

  • Measuring Apparatus Laboratory (MAP),
  • Material Testing and Diagnostics Section (MBM),
  • Technical Diagnostics and Modernization of Power Equipement Section (MDT),
  • Power Station Thermal Equipment Diagnostics Section (MUC),
  • Computer Techniques Section (MTK).
 

Thermal Engineering Division comprises:

  • Thermal Processes Department (CPC),
  • Boiler Laboratory (CPK),
  • Power Industry Economics Group (CEE).

Central Unit also include:

  • Certification Group (DZC),
  • Experts Group,
  • Regulations & Normalization Group (NZN),
  • Library/Scientific-Technical Information Center (NOI).

Ceramic Branch "CEREL" in Boguchwała comprises:

  • Material Engineery Section (ZIC),
  • Prototypes Section (ZP).

Gdańsk Branch in Gdańsk comprises:

  • Power Electronic Devices Department (OGA),
  • Automatics and System Analysis Department (OGC),
  • Electrohydraulic Devices Department (OGH),
  • Microprocessor Techniques Department (OGM),
  • Strategic Analysis Unit (AST).

Transformers Branch in Łódź comprises:

  • Design and Power Electronic Section (OTK),
  • Experimental Production Section (ODT),
  • Transformers Laboratory (OTL).

Heating Technology Branch "ITC" in Łódź comprises:

  • Aeroacoustics Laboratory(NLH),
  • Laboratory of Boilers, Turbines, Heating & Dust Removal Devices and Dust-Gas Emission (NLK),
  • Group of Measurement Laboratories (NLP),
  • Automation Section (NA),
  • Innovative-Productive Section (NW).
Heating & Sanitary Technology Branch in Radom comprises:

  • Boilers and Heating Devices Section (DG),
  • Management Systems Section (PSM),
  • Environment Care Research Laboratory (LS),
  • Waste Disposal Laboratory (LO),
  • Termovision Research Laboratory (LT),
  • Heaters and Apparatus Research Laboratory (LA),
  • Certification Group (ZCR).

Prototype Production Branch in Białystok comprises:

  • Construction-Technological Section (TK),
  • Research-Developing Section (TB),
  • Production Section (TP).
